- 200 g flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 75 g sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 egg
- 75 g butter (cold & diced)
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- some oil (for greasing)
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- Combine all ingredients for the cookie dough – flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, egg, cold butter, and cinnamon – in a large bowl. Knead the mixture with your hands until a homogeneous dough forms (about 2 minutes).
- Preheat the waffle iron to medium heat. This takes about 5 minutes. You will know it is ready when the indicator light shows that the optimal temperature has been reached.
- Form small balls from the dough, about 15 g each. Prepare a total of 30 balls. Place them on a plate or baking sheet. This should take about 5 minutes.
- Grease the bottom plate of the waffle iron with some oil. Make sure the surface is well covered to prevent the cookies from sticking.
- Place 5 dough balls on the bottom plate of the waffle iron per batch. Close the waffle iron and bake the cookies for 2-3 minutes until they are light brown. You will notice a delicious aroma when they are done.
- Carefully open the waffle iron and use a fork to remove the cookies. Place them on a cooling rack to cool down. This takes about 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar over the still warm waffle cookies as desired to give them a sweet, decorative touch. Serve them warm or at room temperature.

Keywords: Let the dough rest for about 10 minutes before shaping it for better consistency. Ensure your waffle iron is well preheated for even baking. You can replace the egg with half a banana or 60 g of applesauce for a vegan option.
